Dr. Hemmer, originally from Manlius, NY, was a gymnast for 20 years and attended undergraduate at Quinnipiac University, a Division I school, on an athletic scholarship for Acrobatics and Tumbling. She was a starter for all 3 years she attended. During her time there she injured her hip which introduced her to chiropractic care. Through chiropractic she was able to start her final season.

She was on the pre-med course at QU and after her experience with chiropractic, she decided to pursue that career to provide patients with the same relief she had received. She graduated from QU with a Bachelor in Health and Human Sciences.

She continued on to Life University where she received her Master of Science in Sports Health Science and Doctorate of Chiropractic. She graduated with Summa Cum Laude and Magna Cum Laude respectively. During her time at Life U she worked with the athletes of Life University, specifically the NAIA Championship rugby team. She also worked with the Division I volleyball team at Kennesaw State University.

She has extensive training in extremity adjusting, soft tissue work, and taping along with chiropractic care. She is an Elite Provider with Active Release Technique (ART) and a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP). In 2020, Dr. Hemmer was recognized in the magazine Women in Medicine as the Top Female Chiropractor in Raleigh, NC.
